Szechuan Chicken is a stir-fried chicken dish from Southwest China with an array of savory Asian flavors, including chili peppers, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and of course, the headliner- Szechuan peppers.
Chicken Breast | Sesame Oil Soy Sauce | Cornstarch | Water Rice Wine Vinegar | Sugar Powdered Chili | Hoisin Sauce Red Bell Peppers | Onions | Garlic Red Chilies | Szechuan Peppercorns Ginger | Spring Onions
Whisk the ingredients for the chicken marinade, then add chicken pieces and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to overnight. Fry chicken pieces for about 2 mins per side and drain excess oil.
Cook red chilies and ground Szechuan peppercorns in sesame oil until fragrant. Then, add the rest of the vegetables and aromatics and stir for two more minutes.
Mix Hoisin sauce, water, cornstarch, and sugar in a small bowl. Add it and the fried chicken to the vegetables. Stir over heat for a minute and serve warm.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
